I am running for Town Council because I feel that the hard-working citizens deserve a strong voice that is capable of thinking "outside the box". Some of our Councillors looked for the “easy” solutions; such as burning garbage instead of eliminating waste. Most solutions are less expensive and less sustainable, although at around $300 million the incinerator is by no means inexpensive. There are several issues concerning our community besides the incinerator, and I am well aware of them. Of course, if you haven't been talking about those issues, then you must have others that are bothering you. I would like to hear about them too. It is my intent to improve the quality of life for the residents of Clarington through my representation.
Of the candidates for Ward 1, I have proven that I am the strongest voice for our ward. I live in Courtice, which I think is important when considering who you are going to vote for.I have spoken as a delegation in front of both Local and Regional Councils—on numerous occasions, and I was on the organizing committee for the Anti-Incineration Rally at Queens Park, held May 13th, 2010.
As an advocate for human rights, environmental and safety issues, I tend to look at the bigger, long-term picture. I will work to create a team environment on Council and see that all of Claringon's residents are afforded the opportunity to "Live, Work, Play" in a safe, healthy and sustainable community. If you believe in me, then I urge you to help get my name out – via campaign literature, signs, etc. – your time is also an important commodity, and I would greatly appreciate it.
